Whitemark Flinders Island

I know, we are meant to be paddling across Bass Strait! The locals invited us to their variety night, all the tables taken so they provided us beanbags right at the front of the hall. They entertained us with singing, dancing, juggling, comedians, amazing the talent in such a small population.

Long Island to Trousers Point

Perfect weather after yesterday's thunder storms. Paddled across Franklin Sound to Trousers Point, one of the best camping spots on Flinders Island. Decided to stay, swim/wash, air and dry gear, abalone for lunch.

Left beautiful Spike Bay

Paddled with wind and tide from Clarke Island to Rum and Preservation Islands before landing at Thunder and Lighting Bay on Cape Barren Island. Decided to continue on to Trousers Point on Flinders Island when Thunder and Lightning Bay lived up to its name.
Lightning over the water forced us to take cover in a very scenic little Bay on Cape Barren before ducking across to Long Island between thunder claps to find a more suitable camp site.

Spike Bay

Spike Bay Clarke Island

Sunset Dolphins

Just witnessed a great dolphin display as a pod rounded up fish into the small inlet right in front of us!

Finally on our way! N.E Tas to Clarke Island

Great conditions, good to be on the water, boats low to water, felt like barges! Good to have Banks Strait behind us.

Under Way!

Robin and Hamish have departed Port Melbourne on the Spirit of Tasmania, on route to Devonport. The rest of the pod will be joining them via airplane.

David Golightly and Heather Torbet waved them off from Station Pier tonight and took these photos. Departure will be early this week, weather permitting. More to come....
